Programs and Events
Programs and Events
The Ester Village Library offers a variety of community-based programs and events. We host groups for visual arts, writing, music, and knitting. We have several fundraising events each year. Our community library welcomes new ideas for programs, events, and clubs or organizations.
Programs
We currently have 2 programs in place: the Growing Ester’s Biodiversity (GEB) program, and our Children’s Reading program.
Growing Ester’s Biodiversity
Growing Ester’s Biodiversity (GEB) is a seed library and biodiversity education program at the Ester Village Library. GEB also supports and participates in workshops, reading groups, or other events, including seed swaps.
Events
In addition to its annual meeting, the Ester Village Library holds several community events and fundraisers each year that serve to keep the library operating or just to have a great time. These are examples of what has been hosted in previous years:
- Seedy Saturday – a seedsavers’ get-together and seed donation/checkout event, usually held in February or March.
- Garlic sales – usually in the fall every year, we sell several different varieties.
- Memorial Day plant sale – annuals and perennials, edible and non-edible, come on down to get some for your garden!
- Spring Fundraiser – a silent auction with hundreds of goods from Fairbanks area businesses, combined with a rollicking good time and dancing to a live band!
- The LiBerry Music Festival & Berry Pie Throwdown – A berry pie contest kicks off this festival, followed by live music and slices of pie at the Golden Eagle Saloon. Winning pies are then auctioned off later in the evening. Come on down for this annual pie fest! Click here for a recap of our 2025 festival!
Groups
We currently host several special interest groups: a writer’s, knitters and a music group, and are always open to more suggestions – if interested, please contact us at info@esterlibrary.org.
