Jamie Smith on Sequential Art

Thursday, September 23, 2010

About the speaker:

Jamie Smith, artist and literacy activist, will speak on sequential art and present a slide show, reviewing editorial cartoons, sketches, a mix of old and new work, some of his influences and favorites, and some classic gags. Smith is a well-known local graphic designer and artist who teaches drawing and sequential art at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He curated the show Cartoon North, on Alaska-themed sequential art from pre-purchase days to the present, and organizes regular cartoon jams, 24-hour Comics Days, and participates in various literary events such as Read Comics in Public Day and Guys Read (in the public schools). This lecture, slideshow, and demonstration is not to be missed!
