State nonprofit November 2009

  • First draft of 1023 (except budget) is ready
  • Anticipate trouble dealing with IRS

Five-year construction plan timeline

Construction committee

Events pay off, worth the effort. Three fun occasions too.

Break down the volunteer needs for each event, Let people know how many are needed for each event; Post our needs at the gazebo

T-shirts bring in some sales at events and the Ester Market

Donations also come in from lectures

Have one grant, a reimbursement account

Endowment:

  • Alaska Community Foundation
  • Long-term sustainability of the library
  • Donors can make tax-deductible donations
  • Can withdraw 4.5% per year
  • Never get to touch the endowment
  • Pay 1.25% management fee
  • Credit card fees
  • Donations made online or from payroll deduction
  • Quarterly reports from ACF
  • Need $5000 in three years to establish the endowment
  • Shows long-term sustainability planning
  • Melinda- land that will be donated- could that go into the endowment
  • Could establish an endowment ourselves

Bookshelf dedication also bringing in revenue, Also a venue for recognition
