The John Trigg Ester Library

The Fourth Annual Library Lallapalooza and Book Bash continued a fun tradition, with more volunteers than ever before!

Thanks for all the help! The 4th lallapalooza raised almost $6,000 and we were able to pay off the land!

Location: The Annex

Date: Sunday, March 30, 2008

Events: Silent auctions, musical performances, and a fundraiser lasagne potluck

Entertainment

Again, the music was great! We had GRL Jam, an impromptu trio of Gabe, Raz, and Leah, playing some foot-stomping music. We had Desmond Cole on jazz piano and later jazz saxophonist Nelson Felix.

We are so successful we're running out of room! Your local library is growing rapidly, and we desperately need a new building to hold all the books and videos. If you have suggestions for how we can do the lallapalooza better next year, let us know! Call 479-3368 or e-mail library [ at] esterrepublic.com.

Food and Drink

Many volunteers dontated desserts, lasagnes, salad, french bread, and beverages to the lasagne feed, and then even more helped to serve lasagne to the hungry crowds. Many thanks to Gerry Nordman for organizing the feed, and to Maggie Billington, Margaret and Jeff Rogers, Judie Gumm, Denise Akert-Mohr, LJ Evans, Carla Helfferich, Lisa Sporleder, Mindy Gallagher, the Carboys at Gold Hill Liquor & Gas, and all the others who helped with the lasagne feed.

In-kind Contributions

To construct the new building, we will need materials, labor, and people who know how to operate heavy equipment. If you are a tradesman or contractor, you can help build the new library and help us convince granting agencies that we are serious and worth funding! We will need a written agreement to provide in-kind contributions (services or materials, in the amount you wish to provide) that we can then show to grant agencies as evidence of serious intent, community interest, and the library's ability to follow the project through to completion. This will also help us plan the actual construction. The library is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) corporation, which may help out your business come tax time.

Cash Donations

The library accepts cash donations (check or cash) any time of the year. However, the lallapalooza makes a convenient time for benefactors to demonstrate their support and thus encourage others to help too.

Volunteers

Numerous volunteers made the lallapalooza possible. In addition to the lasagne makers & servers, lots of people generously gave their time to the fundraiser: Kate Billington, Nancy Burnham, LJ Evans, Judie Gumm, Mary Haley, Deirdre Helfferich, Hannah Hill, Diane Hunt, Hans Mölders, Birch Pavelsky, JD Ragan, the Rogers. MANY MANY THANKS!
