The John Trigg Ester Library

Current Plans: main floor, expanded phase

Click on the image below to open in a new window (2,787 p x 1,758 p). The design incorporates a lift to the second floor. See previous drafts for comparison. The expanded floor plan here shows the addition filled with bookshelves, which could bring the capacity of the library up to 29,000 volumes or so, but it is likely that some of this space will be used for workstations and other library functions.See also the first phase and the second floor plans.

Number of books and other items is estimated at between 12 and 15 per lineal foot. Estimates for total capacity are given at the lower right-hand corner of the drawing, using figures for estimated total lineal feet of shelving space available in the first phase (1,071 feet) and the second phase (another 882 feet).
